Councillor of Education reports the preventive measures taken in the CEIP Mariano Suárez (30/04/2013)

First, the Councillor for Education and Planning, Ramiro Garcia, wanted to apologize to all citizens, and to the educational community for the inconvenience that has been generated, hoping to resolve the problem as soon as possible definitely.

As reported by the Councillor for Education, on Thursday 18, was received from the Ministry of Education, a statement ordering the City Council to adopt preventive measures in the courtyard of CEIP Mariano Suárez, on the existing danger of falling tiles and the subsequent removal of the glass fiber on the second floor.

Consequence of receiving the statement, that same Thursday met the Mayor, Councillor for Works and Urban Development, the Deputy Mayor, the municipal officers, the president of the AMPA and the Director of the Center for the situation, besides giving know the problem to the political groups, giving the nod between all the measures taken.

That same Thursday afternoon, the Department of Services proceeded to fence, provisionally, the entrance to the center, defining protected access to it.

The next day, Friday, the Minister of Education visited the center Constantine Sotoca first person to know the needs and wants of it.

The performance of the Ministry was immediate, for that same weekend the Department hired a company that withdrew the fiberglass classrooms and corridor of the second floor, showing his willingness to address this situation.

The center roof needs a replacement, not repair maintenance but coming under the Ministry of Education, and the City has already invested money in carrying out these security measures, which itself belongs to.

Last week was held the corresponding limiting perimeter fence security zone around the center, to avoid cutting adjacent streets.

In addition, as an extra measure to prevent detachment of tiles have been placed safety nets at the height of the roof spoiler.

The City Council, after these actions have been forwarded the same to the Ministry of Education.

Similarly it has been required to DG Infrastructure and Promotion of the Autonomous Community to initiate the necessary procedures for the execution of the works necessary for the replacement of the roof to clarify this comprehensive rehabilitation action.

The day of the site visit, the Minister of Education, Training and Employment Constantine showed Sotoca intend to cooperate fully with the City to resolve this situation as soon as possible.

In addition, Councilman himself joined in the center, where parents felt safe and the children came to school normally, also held a meeting yesterday, but from the AMPA and the Department of Education tranquility and security moved by the performances carried out, hoping the roof arrangement occurs as soon as possible.

"The center is in the 50s, being remodeled in the 80's, a landmark building and singular by which all governments must do everything possible to maintain," said Garcia.

In addition, all actions taken so far have been supervised at all times by the municipal.

All measures are preventive in nature, and therefore, necessary and materialized with as little damage as possible, both for members of the educational community, as to pedestrians and traffic in the streets surrounding the center.

Preventive measures fencing will remain for the duration of the classes, as it is committed to the Department that it will act as soon as possible to resolve this situation.
