Successful Night Chess Tournament I (06/08/2012)

Last Saturday, in the Cultural Space Jumilla Castle was held the First Chess Tournament Night, a sporting event that is born this year, with the help of the Department of Sports and Chess Club Coimbra.

The tournament champion was the Englishman James Plaskett grandmaster who won all their matches, the second place went to Alejandro Escudero, Murcia Chess House, who scored 5 points, the same as the third place and brother, Sergio Escudero; both players are the current regional champions in the Under-16 and U-12 respectively.

The fourth place was the young local player, Kiko Piqueras, which caught an excellent performance tied with 5 points with 2 ° and 3 ° classified.

In this category there were cash prizes for the top 10, also giving away a bottle of wine DO JUMILLA courtesy of the Council of the Designation of Origin.

In the U-16 on 1 winner was David Piqueras, Jumilla, 2 ° was Pedro Daniel Gonzalez also of Jumilla and 3 ° was Tevar Alvaro, Madrid.

In U-14 was the best Adrian Castillo de Almansa club, 2nd Daniel Motorcycle Club ended Castling Cehegín and 3 ° was Alejandro Castellanos, of Coimbra Jumilla.

Councillor for Sports, Juan Manuel Abellan, said that the tournament was a success and also the context and setting, the Courtyard of Castillo de Jumilla, unbeatable.

Has expressed already thinking about the second edition of the tournament, no doubt because "the results of participation advise the continuation of this sporting event," said Abellán.
