Jumilla streets were filled, another year of sport and fun, thanks to the popular race Christmas (28/12/2010)

Despite the low temperatures of last Sunday, the streets of Jumilla is completed a year of sport and fun in the Christmas Fun Run IV.

Nearly 800 runners of all ages and from different backgrounds, participated in the trial, some of them disguised as different characters.

Many riders came from towns of Murcia and Alicante, as well as places like Granada, Valencia and Barcelona.

Also hundreds of people took to the streets to watch the race and cheer on the athletes.

In sports, the winner of the race was Miguel Fernandez, Safor Athletic Club-Cafemax, with a time of 22 '15''.

The first store he crossed the finish line was Juan Miguel Thomas, the Athletic Club Gas-González Pérez Jumilla.

In women, the first woman was María Pilar Igarza, Fins Club La Cañada-La Roda, entered the 27 overall with a time of 25 '3''.

For its part, the best place was Maria Soriano, at position 20 local and 73 overall, with a time of 27'44''.

In this race also rewards imagination so there were also prizes for the runners were in costume.

So the first place was for a group representing 'Don Quixote', accompanied by Sancho Panza, including the mills.

The second place went to a few athletes that simulated air traffic controllers' dispute and the third place went to a group of penguins.

The fourth place went to The Smurfs, 5 ° for Tarzan, the sixth place were the shepherds, the seventh fawns and Papa Noel, the eighth place went to Aladdin, the ninth for the snowman and the tenth for the surgeon .

After the race, the awards ceremony held at the Municipal Sports Pavilion with the presence of the Councillor for Sports, José Luis Monreal, Councilman Celebrations and Citizenship, Ildefonso Jimenez and the deputy mayor, Jesus Sanchez.

'Another year running together, participate' was theme of the fourth edition of the Fun Run Christmas of Jumilla in which major developments have been the change of day and the equalization of male and female categories, distances and prizes .

There were two circuits, one of 580 meters and the other with a distance of 6,880 meters.

The start and finish were in the yard of the roundabout, crossing various streets of the city.

The test, organized by the Department of Sports, was assisted by Civil Protection, local police, Red Cross Triathlon Club Jumilla, Jumilla Athletic Club and Sports General Directorate.

The deadline for entries is January 3 to February 28, 2011.

The works may be submitted up to five works in color mounted on a rigid support (minimum 18 x 24 cm., Up to 40 x 50 cm.).

Photographs submitted remain in the hands of the Department of Sports City of Jumilla, being able to be exposed to the public and used in the preparation of subsequent publications.
