Unión Progreso y Democracia has witnessed the accumulation of pruning in 2009 in the roadside of the Sierra Larga de Jumilla.
More than 18 months after pruning done or the Ministry of Agriculture and Water, and the city of Jumilla have thought of the dire consequences it can have the accumulation of such material, highly flammable, on the roadsides.
In the words of the Regional Coordinator Rafael Sánchez "this is a great responsibility of the authorities, not only by the fire risk involved in summer, but by the apparent disinterest in protecting and conserving the environmental heritage."
Contrast this dereliction of duties and neglect in a mountain of Jumilla, with few visitors and witness the scene which was held at the Park Carrascoy-El Valle to announce the Infomur Plan 2010, where half a million pines, many of these magnificent ancient trees, have been needlessly sacrificed in the name of fighting forest fires, and denounced in their time Unión Progreso y Democracia.
A useless measure due to the abundance of material pyrophytes (highly flammable) present in the strips of land cleared.
