Family serves more than 3,000 elderly people in Jumilla (16/04/2018)

More than 3,000 elderly people receive social care in the municipality of Jumilla, through the services of the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities.

This was indicated today by the Minister Violante Tomás, who, together with the Mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, and the President of Aspajunide, Carmen Olivares, visited the day center for the elderly 'Miguel Marín Padilla'.

Tomás highlighted the commitment of the regional government for the expansion of places in residences and day centers, in which a total of 697 new places have been created.

One of the beneficiaries of this increase is the day center for the elderly of Jumilla, which has gone from serving seven people in 2015 to the current 30, with the recent expansion of five places.

In addition, the social center for the elderly of the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS) has 2,989 members, nine people are linked to the Home Help Service and there are 59 active users in Telecare.

Regarding the day center for the elderly, managed by Aspajunide, it has a specialized team of professionals who provide continuous attention to users.

The public places of this service are financed through the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS) with 297,198 euros.

Of the total budget of the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities for the municipality of Jumilla during this year, the care of elderly in Jumilla is allocated 631,245 euros, representing an increase of 16,460 euros over the previous year.
