Presented in Jumilla the Active Program to avoid sedentary lifestyles (13/02/2018)

The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, and the general director of Planning, Research, Pharmacy and Attention to the Citizen of the Ministry of Health, María Teresa Martínez, have presented this morning the Active Program 2018, which begins in Jumilla next Monday 19. They have been, also present, the Councilor for Public Health, Lucía Jiménez, the Councilor for Sports, Juan Manuel García, the family doctors, Javier López and Enrique Pirla, as well as the nurse María Alegría Avilés.

The Active Program is implemented by the Ministry of Health and aimed at reducing the prevalence and incidence of chronic diseases that derive from risk factors such as physical inactivity or sedentary life by prescribing physical therapeutic exercise by healthcare personnel. Primary Care of the Murcian Health Service (SMS) and with the collaboration of the Town Councils, which give the space where to carry it out.

"It is intended to promote the involvement of the citizen with their health, encouraging healthy behaviors and lifestyles through physical exercise," said the mayor, Juana Guardiola.

For its part, the general director of the area, María Teresa Martínez, recalled that: "The movement is health and sedentary lifestyle is disease"

The Active Program is structured in two blocks that are differentiated by the type of physical activity that takes place in them.

Each of these blocks integrates new pathologies that develop the activity together:

Active Adults: Collect patients with the following health problems: hypertension, dyslipidemia, smoking, prediabetes, obesity or mental health problems such as mild or moderate depression, as well as stable phase schizophrenia.

Active Families: Program indicated for sedentary children and at risk of overweight or obesity.

Since the Activa Program was established in Jumilla, in 2014, it will be the fourth time it is launched.

There are already several registered for the group Active Adults, which will be held in the Municipal Pavilion Carlos Garcia from next Monday 19 on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 18.00.

It is the general practitioners who prescribe their patients to perform this physical exercise as a measure to improve health.

The Councilor for Public Health, Lucía Jiménez, recalled that.

"One of the actions carried out by the City of Jumilla to avoid sedentary lifestyles is the Health Week, which has been organized for two years around the month of April."
