In the plenary session held on January 29, Izquierda Unida-Verdes asked a couple of questions related to the fair.
They asked if a municipal tourism plan was presented and what number of interviews or meetings were held with travel agencies, tour operators or tourism agents.
The Mayor who came as a representative with the Councilor for Culture, he answered to this municipal group that did not take any project to present tourism in Jumilla because it is responsible for the Wine Route and that there were no meetings with tour operators or agents of tourism because "the City Council is not a private company".
They tried to confuse citizens by letting them see that it is not logical to contact the private sector in tourism when it is the only way to contact tourist agents that promote and offer different destinations.
The Government Team does not want to recall that in 2008, the now Mayor made a statement at a press conference about attending FITUR that year in which he said that he was going to take a presentation project by a local media to give to know the Jumillano culture and it also counted that by own initiative it was going to maintain a series of appointments with tour operators or agents of tourism.
He also commented in the same press conference that despite the work that had to make a presentation for FITUR, the PSOE always proposed it because it was very important to make our town known.
The municipal group IU-Green does not understand why this year has not been a presentation as previous years if it is so important to promote tourism, and why this year the city does not have to seek tour operators to promote the municipality.
Izquierda Unida will continue to do its opposition work, asking questions and controlling the work of the Government Team.
