Students from La Asunción School participate in a contest to choose the best researcher (14/11/2017)

Since last week, students from 17 educational centers, including the CEIP Ntra. Sra. De la Asunción de Jumilla, have the means to ask the staff of the National Museum of Natural Sciences (MNCN-CSIC) anything they want. through a chat.

'We are Scientists, get us out of here!', Is the new proposal of the Science City project for young people to approach research.

Until this Friday, students from 10 to 18 years old will challenge the research staff, guides and curators of the National Museum of Natural Sciences through this contest in which the students are the judges.

The Museum Zone of Natural Sciences is designed so that students of municipalities of the Science City network know the people who work in the MNCN directly and without moving from their educational center.

Celia Santos, responsible for paleoinvertebrate and paleobotanical collections, Cristina Cánovas, exhibition coordinator, Luis Barrera, in charge of educational activities, together with Manuel Salesa and Mike Calle, both researchers, form the team of contestants.

Its mission will be to respond comprehensibly, rigorously and attractively to all the questions that students ask them through text chats.

After the 'interrogation', students will vote for their favorite contestant to develop a self-disclosure project.

"The objective of this activity is for young people to know the different profiles of people working in a museum in a different way to the classic formats of talks or workshops." Chatting on the Internet gives them the freedom to ask what they want and is also a channel with which they are very familiar, "says Pilar López García-Gallo, director of the Department of Communication and Public Programs of the MNCN.

The schools and institutes that are taking part in this first edition of Somos Científicos en Ciudad Ciencia belong to 15 municipalities that are members of the project, among which is Jumilla.
