The Community will invest more than three million in the construction of a new building for the Prince Felipe de Jumilla school (13/11/2017)

The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Adela Martínez-Cachá, visited the municipality of Jumilla today, where she met with the mayor, Juana Guardiola, and members of the educational community of the Institute of Secondary Education (IES) 'Infanta Elena' announce the imminent construction of the new building of the Center for Infant and Primary Education (CEIP) 'Prince Felipe', whose current building will be used to expand the offer of the institute.

The head of Education reported that "during the next few days the hiring and spending of the construction of the new CEIP 'Prince Felipe'" will be approved, a school that will be configured as a complete center of two educational lines, so it will have 6 units of Infant Education and 12 units of Primary.

The total budget of the center amounts to 3,239,510 euros.

The counselor said that "this investment has a direct impact for the IES 'Infanta Elena', since the old building of the school 'Prince Felipe' will host the new secondary education that will be implemented, related to vocational training , expanding in this way the educational offer of this stage ".

Actions in other centers

At the end of the meeting, the head of Education, Youth and Sports announced its commitment to initiate more immediate actions in other educational centers of Jumilla, such as the adaptation of a warehouse for dining and the execution of a sports track in the public school Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, as well as, the evaluation of actions in the IES 'Arzobispo Lozano' that will consist of the elimination of humidity in the classrooms of the basement, the change of cover and an extension of the institute.

Martínez-Cachá also recalled that "in the last four years, the Ministry of Education has carried out works in seven educational centers of the municipality, amounting to almost one million euros, among which the construction of the children's school to guarantee the reconciliation of family and work life ".

National Award of Educational Excellence

During the visit to IES Infanta Elena, the counselor was very interested in learning about the project 'Educating talent among all and for all', carried out by the teacher of the Andrés Carlos López center.

On October 13, the project received the National Award of Educational Excellence for Highly Skilled and High Capacity 2017, at an event held at the Caixa Forum in Madrid.

The prize awarded by the World Foundation of the Gifted, recognizes the three best teaching experiences presented by teachers of Spanish schools and carried out with students of high abilities.

The innovative educational project 'Educating talent among all and for all' stands out for the use of new technologies, the inclusion of families in educational processes, as well as the promotion of creativity, emotional intelligence, teamwork and teacher training.

Among the results obtained, the improvement of the grades, the drop in school dropout, the fight against bullying and the improvement of the classroom environment stand out.

This award is in addition to the numerous awards obtained by this teacher, among which the 2014 National Education Award for the use of ICT in education (Ministry of Education of Spain), and the International Award for Educational Innovation EDUCARED 2012 stand out (Fundación Telefónica).

Martínez-Cachá congratulated the award-winning professor and assured that "these awards are a recognition of the great efforts of teachers who apply innovative methodologies and achieve active participation and motivation in each of their students, these awards are a clear example of the enormous potential of the teachers of the Region of Murcia, "he concluded.
