The fires of Jumilla have affected about 135 hectares. There are still in the zone of forest brigades of the Infomur Plan, although only with terrestrial means (10/07/2017)

The Local Government spokesman, Alfonso Pulido, this morning made a balance of the fires that occurred in Jumilla in the early hours of Thursday to Friday due to a thunderstorm and that were perimeter in the afternoon of Friday night and finally controlled to Noon on Saturday.

Between the three foci have been affected a little more than 135 hectares.

In the Sierra de Sopalmo, 88.34 hectares have been burned, in the Sierra Larga the number affected area reaches 46 hectares, while in El Carche, when controlled very quickly, the area burned was only 0.7 hectares.

More than 200 people have participated in the extinction of the same in the three days of work between forest brigades, Fire Rescue and Rescue Consortium (CEIS), Military Emergency Unit (EMU), Civil Guard, Local Police, Red Cross and volunteers of Civil Protection, as well as personnel and six vehicles of different councils of the City council of Jumilla.

Still today, Monday, both in the area of ​​Sopalmo and in the Sierra Larga, there are traps of forest brigades of the Plan Infomur, although only with terrestrial means.

Pulido has expressed gratitude "to all the people who have participated in the work".

From the Advanced Command Post, which was located in the access to the Sierra de Sopalmo, the entire operation was controlled with continuous presence of Local Government councilors and the mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola.

In this same place, the distribution of all supplies was organized for the different herds.

Likewise, various facilities were made available such as the Carlos Garcia Municipal Hall, the IES Infanta Elena and the Carmen Conde College, where the Military Emergencies Unit was installed.
