This morning the 16th edition of the Short Films Competition, Arzobispo Lozano was presented with the presence of the mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, the Councilor for Culture, Pilar Martínez, the director of the contest and professor of the IES Arzobispo Lozano, Bartolomé Medina, and the Artist invited to the present edition, Alfonso Serrano, author of short films.

The event, organized in recent years jointly by IES Arzobispo Lozano and the Department of Culture, will be held on June 21 and 22 at the Teatro Vico.

On the first day, IES students will exhibit their works: visual poems, short films and stop-motion. In addition, the invited artist, Alfonso Serrano, will project his short film, recorded in Jumilla and dealing with "the peculiarities of the people".

Appears as actor Hilario Simón, "for what will serve as homage," as Serrano has indicated.

The second day will be short films of CortoEspaña, a circuit at national level, which this year has joined the Jumilla contest, thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Culture.

Shorts will be screened whose main theme will be bullying.

This last day will also be held the awards ceremony of the short competition.

The mayor, Juana Guardiola, has described the event as "an activity of reference for the students of the institute and this year gives a quality jump with the adhesion to the CortoEspaña circuit."

The Councilor for Culture, Pilar Martínez, highlighted "the national character of the event and the expansion to two days of a contest, which is already more consolidated after these 16 years."

Equally, it has indicated "the interest of the Department of Culture for fomenting this event".

For his part, Bartolomé Medina thanked the councilor for his interest "since he took over the area of ​​Culture. We would not have been able to make this leap in quality without the help of the City Council."

Finally, he expressed his satisfaction for the support of different companies for the realization of it.
