Municipal follow-ups and checks indicate normality at La Asunción College (06/12/2016)

Different checks and follow-ups carried out by municipal technicians indicate normality at the Nuestra Señora de la Asunción College, whose students were evicted last Friday after a strong odor of diesel that came off the bathrooms.

This situation led to the management of the center to call 112, which triggered the evacuation protocol with the presence of firefighters from the Consortium, Local Police and Civil Guard.

Since the problem was detected and the center was evacuated, the local government, municipal technicians and professionals of Aguas de Jumilla have been closely monitored in order to discard risks.

They visited the center again on Saturday morning accompanied by the Councilor of Works with the aim of making checks, leaving for Monday a first visit to ensure that everything was correctly, before the time of entry of students.

That same Monday visited again the school center the Councilors of Works and of Education, the municipal technician of Urbanism, the municipal plumber, professionals of Aguas de Jumilla and other technicians outside the City that had been activated with the call to the 112 and that have Intervened in the follow-up of these facts.

In a verbal way, the technicians gathered there informed the management of the center that everything had normal functioning indexes, not detecting anything that would discourage the normal operation of the school.

In this situation, the management of the center decided to suspend the classes for Monday, because it lacked that that verbal report was expressed in writing.

In the middle of the morning, the mayoress, accompanied by the aforementioned councilors, went to the center to assure the management of the center that the reports of the municipal technicians had been verbally advanced early in the morning with the objective Of not harming the students, but that in a written form they would arrive during the morning.

The report had not been drafted over the weekend, pending completion of that last-minute test on Monday.

Late Monday morning, the written report was sent to the center by the technicians of the City, in terms identical to what was verbally manifested by the same technicians who were in the center early in the morning.

The mayor, Juana Guardiola, has stated that: "Our main concern is undoubtedly to guarantee the safety of the students of the center and we have acted at all times. We do not even question the precautionary measures of management, But on the municipal side, we have also acted with caution and with the greatest diligence to minimize the normal functioning of the center. For our part, we have followed everything from the beginning and have been informed verbally By the technicians themselves, before doing it in writing, precisely to gain time and to check that there was nothing strange.

In the next Christmas holidays, and as a precaution, will be used to try to find out the origin of the bad smell of the past Friday, which has not since been detected again.
