A new Leader project seeks citizen participation (06/06/2016)

Jumilla City Council and the Association for Regional Development of the Northeast Region of Murcia will be making a presentation Wednesday of the new Leader project (2014-2020) in which the objectives of this new call will be explained and be asked participation citizen in the development of new programming.

At that meeting they have called for associations, local authorities and citizens in general, where the different ways to propose ideas will be explained.

The overall objective is to establish design and development structure that will structure the intervention and involvement of interested parties to make contributions to local development through the drafting of the EDLP 2014-2020.

A Local Development Strategy Participative (EDLP) is I defined as a "coherent set of operations aimed at meet local objectives and needs, and contribute to the realization of the strategy of the European Union for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, designed and implemented by a local action group. "

These EDLP, which constitute the roadmap aimed at promoting greater economic development and better social conditions for the population in rural areas, are to be developed by Local Action Groups, with their respective local communities, for referral to the Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment of the Region of Murcia, and after approval by the Commission, will be the guide to follow for the granting of aid Leader.

The Association for Regional Development of the Northeast Region of Murcia, is a non profit organization that was founded in 1996, marking a territorial nature, and which now form part of the municipalities of Abanilla, Fortuna, Jumilla and Yecla.

The association is composed of representatives of public and private local socio-economic interests (municipalities, associations, companies, individuals, etc.) whose aim is to enable rural development in the Northeast territory with a bottom-up approach.

The Local Action Group (LAG) Northeast, which is also known as this kind of associations, has worked to date in three programs: Leader II (1996-1999), Leader + (2000-2006) and Leader Focus ( 2007-2013).

There have been many Leader projects resulting from this path and has led to the investment of more than 25.5 million euros in the Northeast region.
