Jumilla will make the dyslexia visible by illuminating the City Hall and the Trucker's Square in red (09/10/2019)

October is the month of dyslexia and Jumilla wants to make more visible this difficulty of learning that affects 10% of the population by lighting the façade of the Town Hall and the fountain of the Juan Soriano Trucker's Square red on Thursday night.

This is the first time that this initiative will be carried out in Spain, which in Jumilla was born from the ADIX Association, which is part of the Dyslexia Platform.

In different cities, public spaces will be illuminated with the same objective: to demand greater visibility for people affected by ladislexia and that the right to equity in the education of all children and youth in the country is fulfilled.

Dyslexia is a Specific Learning Difficulty (DEA) of neurobiological origin, characterized by the presence of difficulties in accuracy and fluency in the recognition of words (written) and a deficit in decoding (reading) and spelling skills.

These difficulties are a consequence of a deficit in the phonological component of language and occur unexpectedly since other cognitive skills develop normally and reading instruction is adequate.
