The 2019 campaign of excavations in Coimbra will be held from September 2 to 15 (27/08/2019)

Next Monday, September 2, a new excavation campaign begins at the Iberian site of Coimbra del Barranco Ancho.

This is a new edition that until September 15 will seek to continue investigating the way of life in this town between the fourth and second centuries before Christ.

These excavations have been carried out by professors and students of the University of Murcia since 1977, although with a break between 2011 and 2014. They were recovered in 2015 by the Department of Culture and the university itself.

As in recent years, two open days have been prepared for the site, which will take place on the weekend of September 7 and 8.

"Both visits will coincide with different works of the campaign, because they are presented as an opportunity to know the place to see archaeologists and students in full task with the appropriate explanations and answers of the directors of the same: the municipal archaeologist, Emiliano Hernández, the professor of the University of Murcia, José Miguel García Cano and the director CEPOA, José Javier Martínez ", said the Councilor for Culture, Pilar Martínez.

To participate in the conference you have to bring your own vehicle, being scheduled to leave at 9.30 am on both days from the parking of the Mercado de Abastos.

The visit will begin at 10 am and will last approximately two hours.

For more information you can go to the Tourist Office, the archeology section of the Jerónimo Molina Museum or call 968757379.
