The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed an investigation in Jumilla to clarify the allegations of several young people, some of them minors, in which they reported having been subject to persecution by an individual, which has culminated in the detention , judicial provision and imprisonment of the suspect, to whom the alleged authorship of the crimes of coercion (4) and sexual abuse (1) is attributed.

The proceedings began several months ago, when members of the Prevention of Citizen Security of the Benemérita, through a complaint, were alerted that a minor usually felt persecuted and harassed by a man in the Jumilla locality.

In order to clarify the facts and identify the author, the Civil Guard conducted a series of investigations that allowed us to find out the link between the victim and the author: both participated in a social conference developed in the municipality.

The first steps of the investigation also allowed to verify that the minor was not the only victim of this one, but that there were other cases of similar characteristics.

As new complaints and statements were received from other victims, the investigators obtained a physical description of the alleged stalker and a possible first name, which allowed them to find out that it was a foreign citizen, undocumented and without a known address.

International Police Collaboration

The Civil Guard found out that the suspect used several false identities with the alleged intention of avoiding their location.

These identities were consulted with different European policemen until they found out that they had an order prohibiting entry into France for irregular stay.

For several months, the researchers established various search devices that were unsuccessful as it usually changed residence to stay, generally, in cave or abandoned homes.

Last Friday, August 16, the civil guards learned of another fact of similar characteristics possibly committed by the same person.

In this new episode, a woman denounced that she had been suffering, for about a year, the follow-ups, in a harassing way through the urban area of Jumilla, of a man, who even followed her to her place of work and home.

According to the complaint, that same day the modus operandi changed dramatically, since when the victim was enjoying the local parties with other people suffered sexual touching, being able to observe behind her the individual who had been harassing her.

A few days later, the victim saw again how this person followed her again and, in fear of suffering a new aggression, alerted the Civil Guard and filed a complaint in which he reported that his case was not isolated since he knew that other women had been monitored and followed in the same municipality.

Given these facts, the Civil Guard reinforced the surveillance and search device around the areas where the victims used to develop their daily lives, with the collaboration of the Jumilla Local Police.

The device paid off soon after, when he was located and detained in Jumilla as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of coercion and sexual abuse.

After its full identification, the Civil Guard has confirmed that, in addition, it had an order prohibiting entry into national territory, which has been communicated to the Immigration Unit of the National Police Corps.
