The sixth edition of Wow Wines is celebrated on August 31 in the Plaza de Santa María (20/08/2019)

The mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, accompanied by the Councilor for Animal Welfare, Pilar Martínez, and the volunteers of the Animal Protection Association 4 Paws Jumilla, Claudia Moreno and Santa Lozano, today presented the sixth Wow Wines, wine tasting solidarity organized by this association with the Department of the area and this year will be held on Saturday, August 31 in the Plaza de Santa María.

The Jumilla PDO wines and live music are the main attraction of this event, whose main objective is to raise funds for veterinary expenses of the Municipal Shelter of Abandoned Animals.

A score of PDO wineries have donated their wines to be tasted by attendees to the rhythm of very different styles of music.

"And this year, not only has the number of performances increased, they have also received the support of more sponsors," they said.

The first performance will be that of the applauded Johnny Sax, an English musician based in Jumilla who has become a must for the public of Wow.

Then they will play the Malaga-born singer-songwriter Alberto Alcalá, who this year has published his second studio album, "Tragaluz";

and the Traslapers group, formed in Vizcaya, with blues, rock and funk repertoire, and with Juan Manuel Martínez from Jumillano on electric guitar.

The 300 tickets available are already on sale at the Urbano and Mascoticas veterinary clinics, and are priced at 15 euros, which includes a glass to taste the wines, catering and participation in craft beer raffles.

Recently, the collaboration agreement of 43,000 euros between the City Council and the 4 Paws Association has been signed in the Municipal Budget for the management of the Municipal Animal Shelter, built in 2009 through the Plan E. In addition, the City Council has underway in collaboration with the association the CER Jumilla program, a project for the control of feline colonies in the municipality, as well as an agreement for the collection in the municipality of abandoned, lost or injured animals.
