From November 29 of this year, to January 15, 2019, the submarine "Peral de Simón", as it is known in the penitentiary media in recognition of the prisoner who built it, will be exhibited at the Museu Maritim de Barcelona as a result of the agreement that the Catalan institution has been maintaining with Murcia associations: Associació Cultural Jumillana (Barcelona - Poble sec) and Templar Association of Jumilla (Murcia) driving the convicts to bring the culture of the sea through the Fénix Project Prisoners of Fine Arts and Crafts, activated since 2006 in the jail of Sangonera la Verde (Murcia) in which crafts are used as therapy among the prison population.
The model is considered one of the jewels in the crown of the mentioned non-profit cultural associations, and only its exhibition has been authorized in the Provincial Delegation of Almeria, Hon.
City Council of Campos del Río, Albareda Cultural Center (Barcelona) and the National Exhibition Prisoners of Fine Arts and Crafts 2014 in the Murcia II Penitentiary Center (Campos del Río).
For its construction 120 hours have been used, recyclable materials such as leather, poplar wood recycled from fruit boxes, water-based paint, toothpicks, paper, sandpaper, having the most outstanding difficulty in the use of unsuitable tools in observance of the strict safety regulations, which are mandatory, that apply in all penitentiary establishments.
