With the exhibition 'The world between two pages' start events to mark the Literary Prize XXXI (05/05/2010)

The Department of Culture, through the Public Library has prepared a program of events to celebrate the Literary Prize XXXI 'Ciudad de Jumilla ".

This program has been presented by the Councillor for Culture Juana Guardiola, coinciding with the first activity: the exhibition "The world between two pages', a sample of bookmarks from the private collection of Francis Brown.

Juana Guardiola is an "interesting exhibition on the world between two pages, highlighting the pleasure of having a book in their hands, despite the era of new technologies that I think is not going to relegate in all, to read a good book. "

The councilman of Culture congratulated the author of the exhibition and invited all to contemplate.

This exhibition will remain in the classroom culture of CAM, until 14 May and has about 1,500 bookmarks made with over 25 different materials and are grouped in series and thematic groups: the Region of Murcia, with religious, Child of Spain and many countries, as well as solidarity, advertising, art, news, calendars, cards, health, wine, etc..

Visiting hours are Monday through Friday from 17:00 to 20:00.

Francisco Pardo holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry, an expert in oenology and technical and quality director of Bodegas San Isidro and its "passion" is to collect bookmarks, of which around 2,700.

In 2009 he organized his first exhibition with this theme in the municipality of Pinoso.

Brown thanked the council's willingness to carry out this exhibition.

He said "the important thing is a bookmark that came with a book and serves to remove the old habit of folding the page where you stopped reading."

The author also noted that "we have 18 years collecting bookmarks, so we buy, as given to us, so this exhibition is twofold, firstly to share with these objects and that if anyone has any transfer it to us and increase the collection. "

XXXI events to mark the Literary Prize "City of Jumilla '

In addition to this exhibition, on Tuesday 11 May at 19:00 hours, will be the awards ceremony of the First Bookmark Contest organized by the Public Library of Jumilla.

It will be at the Children's Room of the Municipal Public Library.

On Thursday 13 May, from 20:00 am show, in the classroom culture of CAM, the novel "Earth and Water" by Francisco Rabadan and the poetry collection "Ground Swell" by Javier Ruiz Taboada, winning of last year.

Already on Friday May 14th at 13:00 a meeting is scheduled literary Jumilla 200 young students with Lorenzo Silva, president of the jury of this competition literature.

The activities culminate on Friday 14 May with the ceremony for the Literature Prize XXXI 'Jumilla City' and the intervention of jury president Lorenzo Silva, Nadal Prize in 2000.

The appointment will be at 20:30 at the facilities of Bodegas San Isidro (BSI).

In this issue there have been a total of seventy-two works.

In this work, forty-five correspond to the short story mode, along with 6,000 euros and twenty-seven to the poetry, worth 2,000 euros.

The origin of these is almost all Spanish regions, as well as other countries like Germany and Holland.
